Archiving Photographic Legends

Photograph by Tim Mantoani

Tim asked me to be part of his project about the photographers that have worked hard and made a name for themselves, photographers with iconic imagery, those who have made a difference and ran the gamut of styles of photography. I was touched and used two images to best show my work. This image was shot for National Geographic if memory of George Balanchine the dancer. He used his cats to show the ballerinas how to land upon their toes.
Tim should be having a book published soon so keep an eye out for it.
The images are really interesting to see as many of the shots and shooters are fascinating to connect. A terrific project and we wish him much success.

Kudos.

BEING AUTHENTIC

You Can't Get Any Ants if You Don't Put Out a Picnic

Miss Sara and Mom Cuddling in The Hammock

MOM KNOWS BEST

BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP

It is not the shell of a woman or man that makes them shine.
It's their sense of integrity and Spirit.
Here is my dear friend Sara, I adore her kind and loving heart.
She's a down to earth healthy being.
She's quite and listens more than those who like to toot their horn.
Incredibly funny as her apple didn't fall too far from moms trees.
Humble and graceful, always kind and never a bad word out of her mouth.
I've come to love this gentle soul for she is an inspiration of pure beauty.
Never negative thoughts about other people but rather supportive.
Today we worked with Miss Sara and her Mother.
A really sweet session as they stopped by for lunch on the farm with me and my father.
The Santa Fe Workshops were filming a promo video for my class MOJO rising.
Sara and her mom helped out by doing a portrait sitting and and illustrative portrait as well to make a point about what is real verses fabricated.
Its always a my privilege to work with people I love.

KARMA be with all the HONEST GOOD PEOPLE I KNOW.
Thank you Sara and Mom

SUMMER WORKSHOP June 26 - July 2

Mojo Rising: Photographing from the Heart
with Karen Kuehn
June 26 - July 2, 2011

TUITION:
$1,175

FEES:
$280 Model, Location, Materials, and Speaker

QUESTIONS? Call us at 505.983.1400 x11.

Portraiture is storytelling. Great portraits, like great stories, come from the heart. In this workshop, we embark on a journey of discovery that is part self-exploration and part photographic technique. Through exercises that use sound, smell, taste, touch, and vision, we tap the senses that enable us to extract telling images from even the most uninspiring of subjects.

This class is not for the meek. You must be open to looking in the mirror and doing what it takes to find and express the personal stories, thoughts, and images that lay dormant in your creative core. Participants maintain a journal of each day’s experiences and revelations, and from that material choose images to create daily. Each day’s photo assignment will reflect the individual gems you uncover from deep inside. Any and all props you bring are welcome.

This approach to finding your personal style is merged with technical material covering lighting, the symmetry of the human face, point of view, awareness of settings, styling and props, and format and style. We work on how to best illustrate emotions and explore methods for breaking down barriers between subject and photographer.

If you are stalled in your creativity this is the workshop to jump-start the energy. Join us and see how the mojo develops. Uncover the inspiration from within, and reveal the expression of those findings in your photographs.
